Dragon Quest VII 3DS to use symbol encounters, more details

4Gamer’s screenshot feature on Dragon Quest VII 3DS has revealed several gameplay changes. Most significantly, the game has changed from random encounters to a symbol encounter system in which wandering monsters appear on the map. Other new features include a shard radar on the bottom screen, new shards available to trade through Streetpass, “special shards”, and visible character models in battle; the character models will change depending on your job changes.
